About:

Hello! Here's a little bit about myself. My name is Kristjan Leifur Kristjansson and I go by "Comurshy". I'm originally from Reykjavik, Iceland and I moved to Phoenix, Arizona when I was very young.

I was interested in many creative fields growing up, but my interest in art and drawing didn’t start until I came across the art of Ralph Steadman while I was in high school. Steadman's ink works, particularly his drawings of the writer Hunter S. Thompson, completely captivated me.

I became obsessed with art, drawing everyday and starting art classes at a community college after high school. This led me to pursue a degree in drawing at Arizona State University, where I graduated from in 2017.

During my university years I took classes in many different art forms besides drawing, from wood work and welding, to ceramics, but what ended up peaking my interest was painting. Painters like David Choe and Alex Grey were of huge influence to me becoming a full time painter at this time.

During this period I also discovered that I was color blind. This is a big factor in why my artwork is so vibrant and colorful today.

After exploring many painting mediums and working exclusively in oil paints for many years I eventually became interested in the world of spray paint and graffiti. Falling in love with spray paint led me to combining it with acrylic paints, which are my two mediums of choice today.

Combining these two mediums, along with my colorful and vibrant use of order and chaos in a composition, led me to creating my own "Comurshy Style" around 2019.

I have continued to grow and paint in this style ever since and I love it.
